ENTE MOSTRA VINI - ENOTECA ITALIANA

Ente Mostra Vini - Enoteca Italiana is a National Institution established by Presidential Decree n. 296 in 1950, and located in Siena. It's main aim is to promote, both at a national and international level, high quality Italian wine. Since 1996 the role and the institutional functions of the Enoteca have expanded. The new legal regulation for the Ente Mostra Vini - Enoteca Italiana, is that of being an instrument for protecting and highlighting the value of Italian wine and also that of the traditional agroalimentary products

Short History

The Enoteca Italiana is located in the bastions that overlook the Fortezza Medicea from north to east. The fortress is an immense structure and was built in 1561.

Today, it is within this splendid example of military architecture that one can find an unique selection of more than 1,000 wines of 520 member producers from all Italy exhibited in its cellars. Since 1950 there have been many developments in the field of Italian quality wines, which of course have been reflected by the wines displayed on the shelves in the chambers of Enoteca Italiana. Only the best wines are being permitted, due to the fact they have to pass a classification of recognition before being admitted into the Enoteca. The elimination of some wines and the addition of others, have served as documentation of all that has happened in the territory, also at a managerial level, on the wine producing estates throughout the entire country.
